Today my friend Andy Paine organised a podcasting skillshare at 4ZZZ, which is a community radio station in Brisbane. His aim was to connect with people who were making radical content either at the station or online.
The conversation was really good. I was interested to hear the different strategies people employed to source content, and to make their recordings. Probably the most important discussion was how a journalist needs to build up trust and reputation amongst the communities that they're reporting on. This is a matter of spending time with people, taking the role seriously, and creating a high quality of work. This kind of careful work is one of the strengths of community media.
